UIC – Rockford School of Medicine

National Center for Rural Health Professions – Addition

ROCKFORD, ILLINOIS

This three-story, 59,000 SF addition and 16,250 SF renovation is designed to showcase the center’s new programs and provide a new and prominent identity to one of Illinois’ leading medical school programs. The project houses classrooms, a library, a computer instruction / testing lab, offices and receiving facilities. The center will train doctors and other medical professionals for serving the healthcare needs of rural communities.

Thomas M. Siebel Center for Computer Science

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS

As the prime architect and interior designer we partnered to produce this 256,000 SF high tech computing habitat. The vision was to design a magnificent, “smart building”, while offering opportunities to investigate and apply computing tools on the building itself. Researchers can examine computing issues, multimedia infrastructure, building intelligence security, privacy and art. AIA Honor Award, Pittsburgh Chapter of the American Institute of Architects.

University of Illinois

National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA)

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS

The NCSA is home to one of the world's most powerful collections of supercomputers. As the prime architect, we partnered to deliver this new, 126,000 square-foot building. It features four floors of high-end computer labs and faculty offices. The Tech Demo Lab contains a 15’ x 30’ video display. The Virtual Reality C.A.V.E. consists of a six-sided projection cue for virtual reality research. We also handled interior design and provided FF&E services.

University of Illinois

Remote Library Storage Facility

URBANA-CHAMPAIGN, ILLINOIS

We designed this four-phased construction (54,000 SF) to increase storage capacity of the university’s library collections by more than 6.9 million volumes. Due to limited site space, the facility was the first in the country to go 40 feet high with shelving. The building includes a state-of-the-art preservation and conservation laboratory, and a climate-controlled, archival storage vault for rare books.

Western Illinois University

Thompson Hall Dining Addition

MACOMB, ILLINOIS

This 25,000 SF addition serves 2,000 students from two adjacent dorms. The design concept was to accomodate the seating capacity of 600 students in a series of interlocking, relatively small and intimate spaces. Exterior views are oriented toward the adjacent wooded valley. The servery is a multi-venue, scramble type facility.

Eureka College

Reagan Center Addition and Renovation

EUREKA, ILLINOIS

We designed this Physical Education Center renovation to include a new lobby that refreshes the memory of students, faculty and visitors about President Ronald Reagan. This transition zone also creates an exciting place for students to see the surrounding activities. The facility includes basketball courts, indoor pool, offices, classrooms, locker rooms, and a weight room.

College of DuPage

Learning Resource Center

GLEN ELLYN, ILLINOIS

Our St. Charles office designed this 160,000 SF addition to the college’s Student Resource Center. Included are the 40,000 SF LRC; a 25,000 SF bookstore; 30,000 square-feet for future educational space; and a 6,500 SF community meeting room and activity space. Technology such as video conferencing and a fiber optics data network allow for future educational and enrollment demands.
